Hi,
I have a laptop which came installed with xp home edition. I wanted to
install xp pro on it so I partitioned the drive and installed it on G:
drive. Now when I login to the xp pro, everything seems to be OK. I can
still access my files from the other drives although they belong to the
xp home partition.
Now, this is where things start to get interesting....

1) After installing pro, I rebooted the system and I find no trace of a
linux partition that was on my system. The linux used to take me to a
startup screen with an option of logging into linux or Dos.

2) On the next screen, there is an option of logging into xp pro or xp
home. As I said the xp pro seems to be working OK. But when I select xp
home and login to my user name, the system just seems to be hung and
doesen't respond. I can go no further.

3) If I select an option of loggin into the last known good
configuration, I can get into xp home, but then nothing happens...
The wallpaper loads up but there is no taskbar or any icons on the
desktop. Even when I press ctrl+Alt+Del, nothing happens. I am coming
to believe that Format is the only option.
Any suggestions welcome
Thanks

Ravi

Your best idea is to dump your install of XP Home, there's no reason to
have both on the system as XP Pro can do everything and more than Home
can do.

unfortunately, I have no idea what might have happened to the linux
partition.
