I use Windows media player 10 to sync all my 5 star rates songs accross to
my spv c500 smart phone but it converts them into wma files which just play a
blank sound on the smart phone. The seconds tick away in the track duration
timer but no music comes out.

Have changed the setting in Windown Media Player 10 so that the songs are no
longer converted to windows medial files but the amount of memory that the
mp3 files now take up on my device means I only get about two thirds of what
I would have got if they were converted into wma files.

Anyone able to assist?

Have you got the latest ROM update from Orange for the C500 - this installs
Media Player 10 and with it wma compatibility.

Hi Andy, have not upraded my ROm to the latest, but checked the version of
WM, and it is 10, like you suggested. (build 15045) 2004 Microsoft Corp.

Its radiculous that it wont play wma files. You would expect any version of
a MS product to at least play wma files!

Any assistance/advice greatly apprectiated. Thanks!

You will need Windows Media Player 10 on the C500 as well - the latest ROM
update gives you this - not sure from your reply if you are running V10 on
the C500.

WARNING - if you do update the ROM backup your files as it will overwrite
everything in the C500 storeage (but not the MiniSD card)

Hi there, looks like I may be having the same issues but on my SPVM2000. I
recently got it replaced and it now has media player 10 for pocket PC and it
won't play ANY of the media files my old SPVM200 played. I am syncing them
from media player on the laptop direct to the device but even though they
show on the device as a media file, it does wont play (does not support the
format.

any chance you could help?

Joe
