 i'm looking into buying a high gain wireless antenna, however;
it is a wireless G adapter, as opposed to the pcmi wireless B adapter
that i already have. my question is ...
"will the wireless G adapter read/function with a wireless B network?"

In most cases yes. But some compatibilty problems arrise, mainly when
using gear from different vendors.

Yes. B and G both use the same frequencies (2.4 GHz), only the
modulation techniques are different. The antenna only cares about the
frequency.
