Out of the blue, when i start media center, this error message pops up, the
new window is titled "ehshell.exe - Bad Image" and the text in the window
says"The application or DLL C:\Windows\system32\dbgeng.dll is not a valid
Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.
Someone i trust suggested reregistering the dll. Nothing happened, just a
window that said there was no registration helper attached to the file. Then
I tried "Restoring to the last known good configuration" before windows boots
and a system restore point the day before this happened. No luck at all. I
made no major changes, installs, or uninstalls between it working and getting
the message. The only thing I did do was share my "Recorded TV" folder on my
home network. I then unshared it after this occured, but nothing change.
Please help! I though I was pretty competent in this area, but this is
beyond me.

You need to locate this file in the Windows\System32 folder and right click
it. Select Properties. Verify that the version is 5.1.2600.0. While there
are newer versions, they are not intended for use on XP systems.
