Hi,

I'm new to all this so this may be a silly question but...

I have just bought a T mobile MDA vario running windows mobile 5 and
activesync 4.1. Here's what I'd like to do:

I'd like to have one email account on my phone (my wanadoo account). I'd
like to be able to send and receive from that account. I'd also like to have
the same account on my laptop at home and be able to send and receive from
that. I'd like to be able to sync these so that if I receive an email on my
phone I can move a copy to my laptop and vice versa.

I can't seem to be able to do this. Activesync insists on downloading all
the emails on my laptop to the 'Outlook E-mail' folder on my phone. If I
wan't to set up a wanadoo email on my phone that has to be set up as a
seperate account. Furthermore, I can't then syncronise that to my laptop
(because it will only sync with the 'Outlook email' folder on my phone). So
now I have half of my messages in a wanadoo folder on my phone and the other
in an 'outlook email' folder on my phone and I can't move the messages
between them!

Can anybody please please help me sort this out?

Thanks a lot,

Dan

You can't synchronize them - they have to be kept separate for a whole
host of reasons (such as not downloading full messages and attachments
on the device). Messaging keeps them separate (as well as any other
POP and IMAP accounts) to ensure that messages aren't lost or
accidentally deleted. The POP3 implementation is such that the message
stays on the server until you explicitly delete it (unlike what
happens on your computer, where it downloads the message then deletes
it from the server).

Does wanadoo support IMAP4 for your account?

In case of, you are done ;-)

IMAP4 can and should hold all messages in your "mailbox-structure"
within your account/on the wanadoo server.

Yust make shure, that sent messages are copied in a "sent-folder" to the
server from booth clients.

Each time you start your mail-client (mobile and/or home) a
synchronisation with the account will be made.

Your two clients are plenty "in sync" without syncing them direct to
each other.
