Hi all,

I have a workstation client running Windows 7 that is having difficulty
opening any documents from the My Documents folder. We are running Windows
2003 SP2 Domain Controller that has all the users My Documents re-directed
via GPO to a DFS based file share. I have verified all the NTFS & Share
permissions are correct. All other clients (Windows XP) have no problems.
However the Windows 7 client cannot open any document (Word, Excel, PDF,
Text etc) and gets an "Access Denied" message. What is weird is if I
navigate directly to the actual server file share (one of the target roots
of the DFS) then everything works fine. I am able to open and save files OK.

Any ideas?

I assume from your description that you cannot save a new file into a folder
in the DFS share? Does your Windows 7 PC list the name of the domain hosting
the DFS as a Local Intranet site in Internet options?

Correct I am unable to access a specific folder inside a DFS share. Neither
read or write works. I get access denied for both. The weird thing is that I
have other folders inside the DFS root that work fine. There is just a
problem with this on target folder.

\domain.local\dfs\public - work fine
\domain.local\dfs\users\param\My Documents - access denied (read or write)

My domain is listed under Trusted Sites in Internet Options. How would I
check if my domain is listed under Local Intranet site in Internet Options?

BTW, I am running Windows 7 Build 7100 x64.

TIA!
