Please log in for more thread options It is not multiple copies of the same thing.
It is a host progam for many different groups of services.
In Vista it is easy to find out what is actually behind each svchost
entity.
On the Task Manger process tab right click on a svchost entry and
click 'go to service(s)' and you will be taken to the services tab but
you will see that a number of services are highlighted. Each of these
services in running in that given svchost entry.

> LOCAL
> SERVICE 2 listed NETWORK SERVICE 5 listed SYSTEM it's the only item in the
> processes that has so many copies of itself
