This is correct: you have a 16:9 widescreen that will show HD and
letterbox DVD in the correct aspect ratio. Most avi, etc. files are
4:3, equivalent to 12:9. Since full screen fills with the height first,
you have leftover, unfilled black bars on the side. It can be no other
way unless you want things stretched horizontally with avi, so that
everyone looks fat.
