what is the current/recommended internal update infrastructure called?
Server Update Services? Software Update Services? Microsoft Update? Windows
Update?

I have a small environment with windows 2000 sp4 servers (windows 2000 pro
sp4 and xp sp2 clients) and would like to implement an internal update
infrastructure. Could someone please let me know what its called so I can
get started? Just need the right name so I can get and start going over the
documentation.

Hi,

You should use Windows Server Update Services. You can download it from
here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserversystem/updateservices/default.mspx

I hope this helps you out. Let us know if you have any further questions on
deployment.

Agreed... there's also a newsgroup here and at www.susserver.com, but the
WSUS deployment readme should answer almost all of your questions. WSUS is
pretty simple, there are only so many settings and I think most people use
almost all of the default settings.
