I built a webiste and its getting a lot of hits, its not making any
money but it is helping people. I built it in an editor, I dont know
code, just a little basic HTML.
I want to add a member only area, which means a log in sceen and I
assume a database which knows usernames and passwords only I don't have
a clue how to do this. What is the most painless way to implement this?
Can I work off a template, what template should I look for?
Re: Want to take next step with my website (Noob)
Try a CMS (content management system). There are many free ones
available and your first choice should be one on your ISP. Many offer
them under extras. I went to the webpages of all those provided by my
ISP and made my choice based on valid code output, features available
(many offer extra modules), and ease of use.
I think you will find that after an evening or two experimenting you
will be able to have all the features your heart desires.
"I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the objects of his
creation, whose purposes are modeled after our own -- a God, in short,
who is but a reflection of human frailty. Neither can I believe that the
individual survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbor
such thoughts through fear or ridiculous egotism." [Einstein]
