a result, my pagerank is lower. How can I go about removing these
"unnatural links" so I can get my pagerank back? These are links from
another site to my site. All Google's tools do is show me all the links,
not the ones it considers "unnatural".
Thanks,

Re: Unnatural Linkx
Unnatural links typically come from link farms, private blog networks,
Web 2.0 sites, blog comments, reciprocal links, and profile links. You
should be able to pick those out on your own, contact the webmasters,
and have those links eliminated. If you need some help:

I've noticed that two sites have a lot of unnatural links to my site. I
have contacted them using their WhoIs information but they have not
replied and I contacted them two weeks ago. Would the headers to my
emails suffice with a note that they didn't respond to get Google to
reindex my site? I have over 500 links to my site. Should I contact all
the ones that seem unnatural or would those two offenders be enough?

One of the biggest problems associated with being hammered by Google is
figuring out how much is enough to get the penalty removed. The two you
mentioned are probably the reason you got hit but if you know that there
are other dubious inbound links then you should get rid of them too.
Once you've cleared out all the unnatural links that you can, you apply
for reconsideration and provide a list of sites you contacted for link
removal that didn't respond. Here's some advice from Google:
"Tell us more about what happened: what actions might have led to any
penalties, and what corrective actions have been taken. If you used a
search engine optimization (SEO) company, please note that. Describing
the SEO firm and their actions is a helpful indication of good faith
that may assist in evaluation of reconsideration requests. If you
recently acquired this domain and think it may have violated the
guidelines before you owned it, let us know that below. In general,
sites that directly profit from traffic (e.g. search engine optimizers,
affiliate programs, etc.) may need to provide more evidence of good
faith before a site will be reconsidered."

Thanks, it seems I have some work to do for something I had nothing to
do with. How can Google make me responsible for something I didn't do? I
get emails for link exchanges all the time and even get phone calls and
I turn them all down. Thanks for the feedback and advice. After I submit
my report will Google reply with their decision?

Because they are "Google" and besides, if they took the word of everyone
who claims they are innocent they might as well not even bother to
police their search results.
Nope. And they won't even answer enquiries. You have to give them 3-4
weeks and if the "unnatural links" warning hasn't been removed, then you
probably haven't (in their opinion) done enough.

I've noticed my web site is slowly making its way back up in the search
results. I also went to Bing's Webmaster Tools and they have a "disavow"
thing for unnatural links but no messages saying I'm not in compliance
with their terms and conditions.
