I have a table containing soccer kids and parents names. The parent
names tend to be of the "Mom & Pop Lastname" type (like Ellen & Bob
Smythe - ok?). I am pulling the data from a MySQL database into html
4.01 strict via php. The validator gave the unescaped warning. Now,
finally to the point - all tested browsers handle the & fine without the

You shouldn't be storing & in the database anyway. That's a display
issue, not the data itself. Rather, change it just before you display
Don't confuse the data with the display of the data. The data is '&'.
The display is '&'. What happens if at some later time you want to
print a report from the database, for instance.
