Tables & css

Hi Group,

I have been playing with tables which is not so easy away from FP.

I need to replicate this page:

Is this going to be possible to make these tables or should I flag the whole
idea and just use text.
I have made a start but decided since nothing much was going correct I would
ask here.

How do you do?

Is this a simple example of a more complex requirement or is this the
actual output?

Graphs are often produced by server side script, however that doesn't
alter the output.

Tables can be perfectly acceptable markup for this type of presentation.
Alternatives include ....
o single image for each 'bar' - sized to suit.
o 1px image resized in markup

don't forget the alt text

o fixed font char (and background)
o any element set to the required width with a suitable background colour

Single images of the entire graph tend to be problematic wrt providing
suitable alt text.

of course :)

This is the page I am replacing at present.
Just to refresh your memory, I am redoing all the pages on my site using
That page was made in FP by myself.

Anyways I have flagged the whole idea mainly as this page will be on going
and I really need something I can just copy, paste and alter :)
I just need a couple of answers to tidy it up a bit.

Could you please show me how to make these tables wider, like what do I need
to add to the css file to play with.
Also is there a way I can make a space between choice and result:
Anything I try has no effect.

green            10%
red               20%
blue              30%

As it would look much tidier.

It also concerns me this page is sprawling down the page somewhat, ideas
here would also help.

I really have tried with this one, spent 2 days mucking around with it.
I managed the FAQ using tables so I suppose that's a start. This one though
has had me tearing out my hair.
But I am learning all the time, surfing around the net looking for ideas, so
I guess all is not in vain.

Many thanks

Certainly not. So long as you aren't hitting the same problem again and
again you are learning effectively. One thing I'd suggest is to never
think in terms of needing to "replicate" a page you made by another
method. The chances are that what you actually need to do is to present
the content of a previously made page as effectively as possible. Thinking
of it that way can help to allow you more freedom to try new things and
less likelihood of getting stuck with a recurring problem.

Here's an example I made in July 2004 which seems appropriate:

and just to add again,
that's just what I want and placed into my page it even validates.
Variables huh, have not read up on them, I will do so.
Thanks for putting me on the right track, after days of mucking around I am
happy happy joy
