Switching from AdSense to YieldBuild

Have any of you switched from AdSense to YieldBuild? I'm looking for
opinions and advice.

YieldBuild claims to be able to increase your CPC/RPM by utilizing
multiple ad providers, and showing the ones with the highest bid. I
haven't read a lot of negative reviews, but the theory sounds too good
to be true; and you know the saying, "if it sounds too good to be
true, then it probably is".

My current average CPC is $0.72, and average RPM is $0.77. Do you guys
think that I would see a significant improvement by switching?

Do you guys know of any long-term risk in giving it a 1-2 week trial

I don't see any long term risk. (For example I've not seen any indication
that google might penalise you for showing ads from a competitor. ) You
might perhaps find that you need to give them a 4 week trial - that should
give them sufficient time to work out what ads work best with your site. I'd
be inclined to only trial them on a restrictive number of pages - enough to
be sensible, but not sufficient that if they turn out to be no good that
you've lost all your revenue.

To date I've been disappointed by the other context ad systems that I've
tried. I've not come across YieldBuild, so can't comment on them. I'd be
interested to know what your conclusions are at the end of your trial.

Over the last several months, I've seen my average CPC increase from
around $0.40 to $0.72 (almost double).

I guess that my real concern is that if I drop in impressions during a
test run, then the CPC will decrease, which could end up costing me a
lot of money! I'm not sure if this is how AdSense works, though.

An increase of 30-200% (their claim) would be great, but if it's not
true, then it would really hurt to risk losing that much revenue.
Unless I hear from some real-life people with positive reviews, then I
don't think I'll risk it.

Why not set up an A/B test, whereby visitors to the site are randomly
presented with either one or the other?

Not a bad thought, Mark, as long as it can be done without violating
the AdSense TOS.

I think I'm going to pass on YieldBuild, though. Their original claims
of increasing from 30-200% were great, but I'd emailed them with my
current averages (a $0.77 RPM), and asked if $1 would be realistic.
Their reply was that they could "probably accomplish $0.80".

That's just too much to risk for a POSSIBLE $0.03 increase. I think
that I'll just leave well enough alone.
