Perhaps - granted, it's not usenet, but has anyone seen this?
Seems Juniper Networks is suing anonymous posters for libel over posts
made to "light reading" message boards.
As a side note - I wonder how much publicity light reading is getting
Re: Sued over posts?
People have sued over usenet posts before.
Normally they sue the ISP that carried it as the person who actually posted
woul not have enough money to make it worth suing them.
In the UK OFCOM recently ruled that web hosts can;' have a clause in their
TOS that absolves them of responsibility fir thier customers actions. OFCOM
feel this is unfair as the customer probably has no money so the host should
be sued in these cases.
