I've added a flash player to a web page. The only issue i have is when
a click on a link in the menu, the flash player starts again.

This is what i want to do:
When the user goes to the web page, the flash player start and the user
can navigate the web page without the flash player reloading all the
time when he clicks on a menu link

I use CSS and XHTML

Thanks for your help

Why is this an issue? Is it because you're worried about the visitor's
system resources when they are constantly having to restart flash player?
Or is it because the flash movie contains an "intro" which you don't want
them to see played on every page?

If the former, there's not much you can do about it, short of going down
the frames route, which I'd avoid if I were you.

If the latter, you could embed links into the flash menu like
page2.html?skipintro=true and have your page supress the intro in these

Either way, using flash for navigation is a big mistake. It will severely
limit your page's usability, accessibility and search engine friendliness.

Is there a "god tutorial" that will tell me how to clean up the gene
pool and get rid of all the filthy retards asking for tutorials for
things that don't even need tutorials?  Oh hey, maybe you need a
tutorial on how to operate Google!  Wait, wait, even better, maybe you
need a tutorial on how to STOP BEING A FUCKING RETARD.    ^_^

Re: Static header for flash player

I just want to user to surf the web page while the music is playing
without any interuption.

The idea was to insert the audio flash player in the header and let the
user surf the web while listening to music.

I was thinking of frames, but it such an old concept that I rather not
touch it...

Thanks for the help

I think either frames or a popup window are going to be your best
options.  Either way, give the user a way to turn it off if they choose
to; personally, I hate audio embedded in a web page but that's just me.
If it's a band or music related web site, okay, I can see the point,
but for the most part I find background audio annoying.

Check out the result, prety cool... simple but works like a charm

If you realy hate using the frames, you could look into XHTTPRequest (I
think that's what it's called... the AJAX thing that lets you call
other pages without reloading), so that when a link is clicked and the
user has JavaScript enabled, you can just rewrite the data on the page,
rather than reloading it.
