I have purchased an SSL Cert from Verisign for my website.
Unfortunately, I have registered the site name as just www.domain.com.
When i browse to the site as domain.com without the www, it tells me
that the site has an SSL cert., but that there is a name mismatch.
Can someone shed some light on this for me?
Do I have to buy multiple certs, one for domain.com and another for
Can I do anything about this now ( change the cert to relfect both dns
conventions) or do I need to buy another cert?
Many thanks in advance.
Re: SSL Cert - name mismatch with www.domain.com vs. domain.com
A certificate is for one domain only normally, and www.example.com is a
different domain then example.com. You _could_ buy a wildcard certificate,
but that's terribly expensive compared with just 2 normal certificates.
I'd enforce one domain: user entering on example.com are just redirected
to www.example.com, problem solved.
