Is it possible to find out what port smtp is using. I know that
usually it's 25 but one of my servers is using 50. The problem is that
I've tried both 25 and 50 on a different server and I can't get smtp
to work. I checked the server owner and he said 24. I have setup smtp
several times in the past and it works fine. Is there a .php file or
something that I can to show me the port?

netstat will show you which ports are listening from within a server.

telnet will assist from outside the server if you think you know which
port to address.

have you looked at nmap?

lsof will tell you authoritatively from local access.

nmap -sV -p1-1024  -P0   from local will do it too.

nmap -sV -p1-1024  -P0 ip.of.server  will do it from afar.
