Simple Mailing List

I have pre-made html website with a button for mailing list.

Is there a simple way to just have it so that someone puts there email
address in their and then clicks the button and it will send me their
email address to be added. I don't need a detailed and complex mailing
list system, I just need to collect their address and I will add it to
my own database separately.

Any help would be appreciated.

Here is the code

 <h1>Mailing List</h1>
<form method="post" id="search" action="#">
<p><input name="search_query" class="textbox" >
<input name="search" class="searchbutton" value="Add Me"

It was a search box, but I re-worded it so that it says mailing list
and add me.

Any help would be appreciated.

Lots and lots of scripts will do that and you didn't mention which
side of the windows divide you are on.

Make sure the script has some kind of protection so it won't be
hijacked. Often that is no more than stripping out line feeds to prevent
header forgery.

A form, such as you describe, is part of the CGI (Common Gateway
Interface) which passes data entered by the user through either an
environment variable or <stdin> to a separate program (an application
program), depending upon whether your html form uses 'GET' or 'POST'

The external program, such as a Perl program, will receive the data
and record it as you wish.

A full tutorial is beyond the scope of AWW, but perhaps you have
enough now to seek and locate appropriate resources.
