Anyone know what shopping cart software these big online stores are
using? It looks like the same one, going just by the structure of the
URLs: ?

Re: Shopping cart software?

Looks Java/SQL/Oracle based.

We'd like to find the vendor of this software and see if they have a
small-scale version of the same for price comparison with other shopping
cart software.

It appears to be very popular with big e-commerce sites, but none of
them credit the vendor.

Re: Shopping cart software?

In most cases large retailers use custom open source code tailored to
the customers specific need. Other use 3rd party providers and cloak or
re-brand the providers URL for a fee.

As far as off the shelf goes I have heard good things about zeno cart
and yup asp cart.

But it is always best to have a custom solution that belongs to you. We
custom code for even our smallest ecommerce sites. That way if
something breaks or a new browser release causes compatibility problems
we can fix things quickly because it is (our) code.

That's a Java application server. You can run a shopping cart on it, but it,
itself, isn't a shopping cart.
