Can any of you good people recommend a UK broadband provider for
I need:
- a STATIC I/P number
- a reliable service
- reasonably fast

I shall be doing 1 or 2 days/week working from home, plus ad hoc work
at evenings and weekends...

I tried asking BT but they cant do a fixed I/P on a domestic line.    :

- Any good or bad experiences to report?

    Why don't you just use a dynamic DNS service?  

    I'm assuming you are setting up a server at home or your
office.  There are numerous DNS services that support your ever
changing dynamic IP address.  

    I use ZoneEdit with a service called 'DynDNS' by
Sitedevelopers.  When my public IP address changes, DynDNS logs into
my DNS account at ZoneEdit and updates the IP address.  It works very

tried them) you can investigate.  It's a lot less expensive than
paying for a static IP address by purchasing some high priced pipe.
