So I publish an article ie.
I also publish a print friendly one with the same content but using a
simplified page layout ie.
Both are listed in my XML site map. Will Google penalise me for having
two versions of the same data???
Would it be better to just have one page such as viewarticle.php but
with a flag to dynamically change the same page for a print friendly
Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Why not just use a separate css to print out the same page?

Use media="all" for the normal view.
