For my son's digital electronics shop, he needed an analog
computational unit. He wrote to the company asking if they'd be
willing to donate one, but didn't hear back. Getting worried, last
night we decided to bid on one on eBay. Of course, that meant that
the part arrived at our house today! So, good thing #1 - the company
was kind enough to make the donation.
Of course, you aren't allowed to rescind a bid on eBay. I emailed the
seller explaining the situation and asking if he'd be willing to
cancel my bid. Good thing #2 - not only did he do so, he wished my
son luck and said he wished he'd known about asking for donations when
he was in college ;-)
Nice end to an otherwise frazzled day.
