Wonder what usenet was like 30 years ago - before the web, when about
the only users were military-related and universities (you could get on
if you knew someone and had a UUCP connection)?

Here's what usenet looked like back then - "live" updates from the past!

It's an old ANSI terminal emulation - no mouse, so all commands are
entered from the keyboard.  Press h for help.

That's all we got for 1c / minute in 1994, just a UNIX shell account.

email, irc, news, ftp, gopher, telnet

usually a MUD - multi user dungeon!

then we got the WEB for $5/hour...

can't find my early usenet posts from 1995, I asked about a virus
BOOT437 online and someone gave me the re-format instructions and
FPROT site, then I managed to ftp FPROT.
