I'm having a complete nightmare trying to get my site up & running with
123-reg. After 6 emails they finally got back to me without answering
the questions! So I was wondering if you guys could help me.

My site with them is at and it looks cr*p because
it's not linking to the css file or running the javascript slideshow at
the bottom of the home page. I know my code is fine, because it's also
up on (click on 'Roots')(this site is for
college coursework as well as my allotment group).

Can anyone tell me what's going on?? Being a poor student, I'm a bit
naffed off that it's taken 6 emails to get a response from support. As
for ringing a 50p/min line, well..........

Please, please help!

Looks like you have file naming problems.

IF the host is running a Linux server, then be aware that Linux is
case sensitive about file names. "roots.css" is distinct from

Check your file names (on the remote server) and ensure they match
precisely with those in your HTNL document (you are using a text
editor, and not some fancy tool that might helpfully capitalise words
for you?)

Woe to him that willfully innovates, while ignorant of the constant.

And lo, Matt Probert didst speak in alt.www.webmaster:

Of all types of editing tools this "feature" definitely annoys me the
most.  Not only because it makes typing things like
practically impossible, but because the option to turn off the function is
usually buried in some obscure, and rarely visited dialogue of some kind.

The technical axiom that nothing is impossible sinisterly implies the
pitfall corollary that nothing is ridiculous.

Re: Newbie Help!!

Thanks sooo much - I've pretty much got it all working. It turns out
the host it was working on is Windows, the one it wasn't is Linux. Even
my tutor didn't know.

Hopefully I'll get the gallery and form sorted soon, and it's be a
masterpiece! (not).

Thank you all again,
