I have just released a new tool for web developers. The site is called
HowsMyPage.com. It allows you to get free reviews of your web pages,
written by other web developers.
HowsMyPage.com works by asking the user to submit the URL of their
page, then to review someone else's page using a structured review
form. In this way everyone gets the feedback they need.
The service can be found at http://www.HowsMyPage.com
I hope you'll give it a look, I think you'll really like it.
Re: New free website review service
I will give you the benefit of the doubt that this isn't a simple spamming
attempt to get traffic to your site.
However, it may be worth getting some things sorted while you are still in
"beta" stages. (Following the headings you have on the page:-)
1. Are there any errors or omissions?
Sort out your page code and check it on lots of different browsers. At the
bare minimum see how it looks on IE/FF/Opera on a Windows PC. If you get the
code sorted you can be reasonable sure it will render on other platforms.
Look at your CSS and try to add in some other font options. For example, not
everyone has Arial on their computers which means they will see something
different than you may have intended. If you don't care what font they see
the page in, why specify it at all?
As for content - it is very sparse, I suppose you are going for the
minimalist-Google approach. If so, then from what I have seen so far it is
not missing anything.
Slightly more information would be nice - despite your claim that email
addresses are not captured there is no real reason for any one to believe
you. They have no way of contacting you if there is a problem etc. This
could be looked into.
2. Does it bring across the impression I intended?
No idea. What impression did you intend?
3. Does my page appeal to others?
Not to me. It looks a bit like a Windows XP "cute" theme going on here.
However, others obviously like it.
4. Is the content interesting?
