Hey dudes and dudettes,

Just musing, for SEO is there a big need for meta description and keyword
anymore? I've heard that Google ignores em now or I might be wrong. Hey what
do I know?

Keywords are ignored.
Description is not used for ranking, however Google does display the meta
description when it displays results, which can benefit potential visitors
in deciding whether to visit.

Considering it's only a couple of lines, I would still include them for
those that might use them.

There hasn't been that much use at least for the keywords for many
years; the description is still occasionally displayed as a page
summary in search results, so it does have a reason for existence.
There isn't really any *harm* to using any of these meta tags, even the
useless ones, as long as you don't use them in a highly spammy-looking
manner that might cause you to be penalized, like excessive repetition
of keywords.
