I am making a directory of businesses in a certain field. They
are in alphabetical order, with each letter having a separate
page. Each business listing is just the name (linked to their
site, if they have one), postal address, and phone numbers. In a
few cases, there is a brief note like, "Owned by ABC Parent,
This directory covers the entire USA, and there are apparently
several thousand businesses in the field concerned.
So it looks like I will be breaking this up into more pages, like
a1.html, a2.html, a3.html, etc.
For best usability, how many listings would you suggest as a
maximum per page? 50? 100?
Thanks for any suggestions

Re: Long List On Multiple Pages?
I probably would use something like: companies-aa-ab.html,
Jerry gave a good suggestion, but it would mean a dynamic website. If
there is no search facility I recommend to keep the number per page
smallish (50 already sounds like a lot, not everybody knows how to
search within a page using the browser).
Maybe think of a faster way to navigate to the right page?
