"New .tel domain names set to create the world's virtual phone book"
I *suspect* that this is a waste of money buying one of these names.
- For my company we have the "Contact Us" button on the website.
- For me personally, I do no want the entire planet to find and spam
me too easily. My friends can track me down. Anyone who is not my
friend will find this much harder. Knowledge is power afterall. And
anyone who has lived uder a totalitarian state will appreciate the
value of this.
However MAYBE it will be important for SEO purposes?
Re: Is buying a ".tel" domain name a waste of money?
I think .com will remain the most desirable for most people, with .net
second, but that's probably only an opinion. In my opinion, I wouldn't
bother, unless you wanted it and it was only a $1/yr. or something. I
never got the interest in any of the other extensions,
like .cc, .fm, .ws, etc., and especially why they were so much more
than a .com. I get what the extensions were intended for and if the
site suited it, then okay, but how many people will take advantage from
a .tel extension? I can't think of any, even the phone and wireless
companies will still benefit more from a .com.
