I was wondering if anyone has had any luck installing Markdown in
Python on Dreamhost. I have downloaded the python version of markdown
from http://www.freewisdom.org/projects/python-markdown (both the soure
file and setup.py) and placed them in my root directory.
Following the instructions I then run the command 'python setup.py
install', but I get a permission error when the install script tries to
copy markdown.py to the python directory:
error: /usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/markdown.py: Permission denied
The permissions on my markdown.py file in my root directory are set to
777, but I don't believe I have access to the /usr/lib/python2.3/
directory - this may be the python directory for the entrie shared
server? Has anyone else come across this problem? I'm trying to install
markdown to use in Django, a python based web framework.
