html5 audio/video and the Yahoo Player

I've usually used a third party player for video and audio. Mostly
the Wimpy Flash Player. With the rash of mobile devices no longer
supporting flash, I've moved to a combo of HTML5 (with a javascript
playlist) and Flash. The large base of IE8 (and less) necessitates
falling back on something other than HTML5. Yahoo Player is an option
(which is Flash). Is there something else?

For the record, I've never liked Flash, or IE!

The state of the audio and video element is rather primitive. As
mentioned, I've worked out some javascript enhancements, what else is in
the works?

Re: html5 audio/video and the Yahoo Player

I haven't been able to find a way to make even IE9 support HTML5 video
tags. So my solution for now is to detect the browser coming in, use
the Flash player for IE and video tags for everyone else.

It seems like thats what you're doing as well, I'd say thats the way
to go right now.
