I am looking for a simple way or perhaps a client side tool to assist
with estimating bandwidth usage. The pages we are serving have lots
of redundant data which I believe is not being cached because the
pages are all built at once. I need to know approx what we are
delivering as is, and the difference if we switch to iframes (which
will cache client side).
Re: how do you estimate bandwidth with JSP's servlets, etc

A good solution would be to configure your application/servlet engine to
use GZIP compression. This would cut down your bandwidth usage by about a
factor of 6, without any application re-writes.
