In the Google FAQs, some files have a .py extension, I found it
interesting. Does some one know if they use mod_python or the like?

Google remain pretty tight-lipped about what programming languages they
use -- the only way to glean that kind of information is from their job
ads which mainly call for C and Java skills.

It certainly seems to be a mixture of several languages that they use

I'd guess that they use custom software for most of their services. The
server for the help pages identifies itself as 'TrakhelpServer/1.0a'.

Google is rather well known for their extensive use of Python. It's not too
long ago that Python creator Guido van Rossum got a job at Google (as other
pythonistas had before)...

I remember reading somewhere that most of their internal APIs have bindings
for all major languages (Python, C++, Java, ...) and they leave it up the
programmers to use their language of choice.
