Re: Global.asa in ASP
Pondering the eternal question of "Hobnobs or Rich Tea?", johnn finally
I'm assuming you mean started? If so, global.asa is read by IIS every
time the ASP application is started/ended, or when a new session is
Basically, on the application level there can be application-wide
variables that are always stored by server and are available to all
users across all sessions - an operation can change these variables and
the change is reflected to all users. On the session level, session
variables can be stored temporarily as long as the session exists - they
are available *only* to the user who owns the session.
Now global.asa comes in where you want to initialise the
application-wide variables or the session-variables in a particular way,
so this file is used when starting or ended either the application or
session - ie. to initialise them, or to clean up after them!
