New Orleans Disaster need immediate help.
News stories indicate that you can't get through to FEMA's
application for relief most of the time, and when you can you
have to click through seven pages before reaching the
application, including filling out subforms. I don't
necessarily reccommend that you verify this -- the system is
stressed as it is.
When the whole thing is over, I'm going to write to the
FEMA webmasters suggesting they start hanging out here.
Re: fema.gov application for relief unusable
Astounding. Those who cite big business and government
sites as examples of important groups that don't follow web
standards should consider the level of hardship this
website is causing people.
That form should be on the opening page during this
emergency. I can just imagine some p_____ little twerp,
way up in the heirarchy, that doesn't know jack about web
design, overriding the one or two of his employees that know
what they're doing. It's hard to imagine that _no one_ in
FEMA knows what they're doing.
