Re: Domain Registrant Look-up
On 5 Feb 2007 19:51:20 -0800, firstname.lastname@example.org put finger to
keyboard and typed:
There's no reliable way of doing it, as that information isn't
published by the registries. The nearest thing to it is to look up one
of the domains at Alexa and check the "See other sites owned" panel.
But that only works for domains with identical registration details;
it won't show a match if the other domains vary a little (and even a
different telephone number will mean a mismatch).
Back in the days when all the gTLDs were run by InterNIC, and you had
to register a NIC-handle in order to register a domain, then you could
do a reverse lookup on the handle to see all domains associated with
it. But even that didn't account for ccTLDs, and didn't show links
between domains where the owner had more than one handle. Now, though,
with multiple registrars, even that limited reverse lookup is a thing
of the past.
