Hi ...

I am trying to offer paid ad links on my site.

I found one of those text ad link companies who have
accepted my site for their text ad system. They also
tell me I must install a code on my  website first.

I tried adding the code to my html source where I want
my ads to appear - as instructed. But it doesn't work.

Then I went back to the website that issued me the
code - and I saw this:

Sorry, but our ad script will not work with static HTML
sites or  sites that do not support a server side technology.
So our system will not work with TypePad or other hosted

Is this why my ad did not work?

Did you ask the text ad link company?  It seems that they would be the
ones to answer your question.

Probably. If you are editing the files and then viewing them directly with a
browser then you don't have access to any server side technology, so this
would stop their ads from working.

What code did they ask you to add? If its php, asp or perl (or anything but
javascript) then it will only work if your server supports the language. If
you are viewing it locally then it will only work if you view the page
through a web-server that supports the scripting language, you won't be able
to simply click on the file and open it in your browser and expect it to

If you post where the script comes from then it should be possible to
confirm this for you.

Hope this helps.

Well, yes. What is it about their statement that's unclear?
