OK - maybe not.
I want to be able to send requests to a specific virtual directory to a
different port, but without actually redirecting (so that the other port
processes the request, but it remains served on port 80). Is this
possible using Apache 2?
A bit more concrete:

but will still be read by the browser as

Yes, that can be done with mod_proxy.

details. It's not particularly complex.
