How secure is it to open up port 139 on my router/firewall and forward it to
my win2k3 server? I want to be able to access some files using file sharing
from my work? Are there any test tools I can run agains it to see how
secure it is?

I made sure that there were no "Everyone" entries on the sthared drives and
printers and tried to use secure passwords.

Anytime you open a hole in your firewall you network is less secure than if
the hole was closed. A hacker will try to exploit the service holding the
port open. So you need to determine what service will use the port and keep
on top of that service for patches, updates, etc..
Personally I would use a VPN connection to the router/firewall.
