What decoder are you using for MCE and is the same used by the external TV
app?

Thanks very much for responding Jamie...I am not sure how to determine
exactly "which" it is using..as there are a number to choose from..and I am
not sure how to direct it to use that of my will..I ran an MCE diagnostic
tool which indicates "Initial mpeg2 video decoder is media center
compatible"..as fail
then "..Initial mpeg2 video decoder Supports DXVA"...fail and "Initial
mpeg2 video decoder supports vmr9"..fail..what's interesting is theat it
shows the Nvidia Dual TV tuner "transcoder" as media center compatible"
false.....and false for the Fusion Gold...I assumed approved drivers and a
good WinDVR or Nvidia Pure decoder would do the trick.......How do I
determine which decoder it is using and direct it .........The fact that I
have tried three tuners (powercolor 550 is the 3rd) makes me think that one
of the encoders would step up and do the job....
?

Jamie ...thank you for the lead...OK,... that only took like 5 months...I put
up with it ...and the kids and wife were crawling in their chairs,..having to
pause and ..play to resync sound and visual TV signal.....
So MCE Diagnostic was first...then you answering this post gave me the
direction to re-word my search query ... which led me to the green button
community blog....which..(user-idbirch2) suggested a tool called
decoderchecker...DECCHECKSetup.exe..and I thought I would probably have to
install "A" new codec or other...but no...that utility allows one to
change/choose the "primary" decoder MCE is using...I chose well,..the
diagnostic immediately gave me "pass" indications...tested it on American
Chopper...and Mikey synced up fine...thank you so much
