I'm having difficulty with this.

I have satalite TV, but am just trying to hook up the composite output
to my Sony and record. I can't actually get that far.

setup:

I have choice of cable, satallite or normal tv signal. With cable and
satallite, it gets to the signal bit, I see the picture on the tv
under composite... great I hit next then it goes into this IR receiver
bit.. saying my IR receiver isn't right or something and all I can do
is cancel... I have no tv setup, with terestrial tv signal, I don't
see the composite and it doesn't work either. How can I just get
media center to record the composite tv signal in???

Thanks

Do you have a IR receiver and remote?

well, the VGC-LT2S comes with a remote and the IR is obviously built
in. This would control the twin tuners... but I don't actually have
terrestrial signal connected, I just want to record via one of the AV
input ports from my satallite box.

Thanks

You must have a Media Center Remote and the Microsoft USB IR Transceiver.
Here is an example of such a unit.

The example doesn't seem to include an IR receiver... can I get one
in the UK with an IR reciever that works with Sky?

And in the mean time, is there no way to get past this so that I can
just record off of AV input?? no tuner or anything involved? I can
see the picture on my screen under RGB input, but I can't get past the
rest of it, setup fails cos of no IR reciever and I have to cancel and
I can't record TV which is what I really want to do... in fact this
makes the whole thing a joke, I can see the signal, but I can't do
anything with it becuase the setup won't finish.
This is really annoying.
