I'm trying to sync up my Treo with my Laptop through bluetooth. I already set
up my laptop in my treo. When I tried to set up the Hotsync, in one of the
steps is telling me that I need to set up a virtual serial port in my laptop.
How can I do that?

Appreciate any help

thank you

That's typically done in the BT software. Either from the BT icon in the
tray, or a BT control panel. It's just a matter of getting in there and
assigning a comm port number for the BT to show up as. That then gets
entered in AS as the comm port to look for.

I'm trying to figure out exactly how to set this up myself. I've
spent the last hour trying to figure this out!! My laptop and
smartphone are hooked together but I don't see my smartphone in my
list of devices in my bluetooth tray in order to assign it a com
port?? Any suggestions?

If you don't see the Smartphone in the BT control panel, why do you believe
it is connected? The particulars depend too much on the individual
components to say much more than a generic find the serial profile on the PC
and assign it a comm port. It depends on what BT implementation you are
using as to how that actually is done.
