Ok just got windows vista 64 ultimate

have installed latest tuner card software
have installed different versions of nvidia software from clean installs.

I am getting the following error trying to watch live tv or record it:

"Video Error"

Files needed to display video are not installed or not working correctly.
Please
restart Media Centre or restart the computer

To my knowledge vista ultimate should have the correct codecs come with it ?
what is happening ?

What does it happen when you watch a DVD?
What TV tuner card and graphic card do you use?Have you updated the
drivers from manufacturer's site or via Windows Update?

Not got that far. Up to 1am reinstalling it again (3rd time)

i have tried nvidia driver 174.74, 175.15, 173.68 all with fresh installs.
hauppage HVR-2200 running latest driver
running latest BIOS 0409

This happens with or without SP1.

Before last reinstall DVD works fine thorugh media player, but through MCE
stuttering video and sound.

How much total system RAM do you have (RAM + video RAM)?

The Hauppauge cards have issues with 64-bit operating systems running more
than 4GB total system RAM. I was running a Hauppage TV tuner card with Vista
64-bit and almost 5GB of total system memory (768MB video and 4GB RAM), and
the tuner refused to work. I finally had to revert to Vista 32-bit and the
tuner now works fine again with my amount of RAM.
