I am using a media center pc with a radeon X1300 video card and a 37" LCD
monitor with the DVI to HDMI cable and sometime uses the media extender on
the Xbox in another room. My question is when I use the media extender in the
other room and I have the monitor off on the media center pc why does it
suspend and not allow the monitor to come out of stand by when I want to use
it again after I just got done using the Media extender? Nothing comes up and
it just doesn't work, I have either have to warm boot it or press my power
key to shut it down (programed to shut down the computer safely). And I
notice when sometimes using media center and watching TV it changes my
resolution, but otherwise everything else works great.

I believe that Windows notices that the monitor is off and disconnects
(something) and won't start sending a signal to the monitor again.
IIRC, this has been reported in old posts here, and it - or something
similar - has happened to me as well.

My TV lets me turn off the picture only, without turning the TV power
off. You might try to see if that can be done on your monitor.

Another Idea:
If you are using the power settings to turn off the monitor after a a
certain amount of time what are you doing to get it to come back out of
standby?
Moving the mouse, hitting any key, hitting the start key?

Yeah. Good question.

My favorite here is to use the control key.

Moving the mouse doesn't work (at my house & for optical mice, at
least), but clicking a button should work - I think :-)
