Hi all-

I just got a new Palm TX. I love it so far, but if I can't get this
outgoing e-mail issue solved I'm probably going to have to return the palm
and revert to good old paper and pencil. I'm trying to send e-mail while
connected to my home wireless network. My ISP requires secure settings when
connecting remotely. The ISP's instructions/settings are here:
http://help.insightbb.com/outlook/remote_access.aspx
The instructions are easy enough to port over to versamail, but it doesn't
work. Adding to my confusion is that I've had a wireless laptop up and
running with these same settings (using Microsoft Outlook) for over 2 years.
Receiving emails works flawlessly. When I try to send I get "No response
from smtp server". Ideas anyone?

Thanks.

AT&T email has the same problem. Versamail does not support SSL for sending
email. There is no work-around, the ATT website is actually requesting
anyone who has gotten it to work to post the solution. The AT&T E-mail
newsgroup just suggests buying a third party email client for the Palm
(SnapperMail)

Hi all:

On my TX versamail has a setting for SSL for both outgoing and incoming
mail. Is that setting "broke" or something?
I have 2 mail accounts with different ISP's. One works fine the other work
once in a blue moon.
The one that doesn't work requires SSL for both incoming and out going mail.
The problem I have is most of the (99 out of 100) times I try and check my
mail, it connects ok, a progress bar pops up and runs very fast, then it
pauses and pops up a error message that a delay in commutating from the
server has happened please try again and if I hit the OK button, it goes
back to the connecting to sync palm changes and will sit there for 5 to 10
minuets and then it will time out, or it may never time out and I will have
to hit the reset button in the back. Most of the time I just hit the reset
button as it doesn't do any good to let it time out. This is a big pain in
the butt to me as this is my main email account and the only reliable way to
look at it with the TX is blazer and web mail and the ISP's web mail is
clunky.

Check out the Palm web site:

I posted to the ATT newsgroup and SnapperMail seems to work, according to
the mod that responded.

Are you sure that is not just a limitation in older versions. Versamail 3.1
on my TX has a checkbox for both incoming and outgoing SSL? The TX
userguide also indicates that SSL is available for outgoing.
