Hi all, I've just bought a new 256Mb stick for a Tiny laptop (bought in
UK about 2 years ago). The stick goes in fine, (there's already another
256Mb in there) but there's what looks like some sort of soft pad
(about 4 or 5mm thick) stuck on the inside of the cover which presses
against the new memory and makes it very difficult to close the cover
again. It basically fills the blank gap where my new stick now goes, as
if it was never intended to add a second stick. The rest of the (metal)
cover has some sort of thin layer (looks like photographic film) which
is presume is to insulate the memory and CPU from the metal cover. I'm
thinking of scraping off the soft pad and putting some insulating tape
on instead, but would appreciate a second opinion first. The memory
works fine without putting the cover on.

Thanks for any advice, Adrian

Yes, I'd do the same thing. The only thing you might want to do, is
perhaps stuff a couple of cotton balls in there if the fit is loose.
That will keep them from flopping around.
