Try another burn simply to generate errors. After the error, go to
(assuming WinXP) Administrative Tools\Event Viewer, review the logs, and
post the error(s) about the drive that you see there.
If using Nero, etc., turn off the native Windows CD burning service; see
if that helps. Select the drive in My Computer, right-click, select
Properties, Recording tab, and uncheck Enable CD recording...
