The problem that you are most likely to have is that the Toshiba optical
drive bezel used in the 2805 series is neither flat nor rectangular.
Thus, a drive with a standard bezel probably won't fit right (not to
even address the matter of aesthetics and color). A drive with a
standard bezel may not even close.
Replacing the drive is actually kind of easy (if you have the service
manual, ignore it's instructions, which would have you tear the whole
machine apart). Basically, if you remove the keyboard, the drive can be
released by removing two screws. One is under the keyboard, and the
other goes into the optical drive from the bottom of the laptop. With
these removed, the drive just slides out with no major disassembly.
