I guess this is really an XP problem rather than a Media Center problem, so
you might get more luck using that forum?
I take it the drive won't work, either in MCE or with any other burning
program (eg Nero). And you can't read the disk either?
I guess you have seen this -

I think if it was me, I'd probably buy a new DVD drive.
