Last week I tried to use system restore. It was unable to restore to either
restore point I chose. I found another solution and never got back to find
out why.
Yesterday I saw these items in the event log:
Event Type:Error, Event Source:sr, Event Category:None Event ID:1
Description:The System Restore filter encountered the unexpected error
'0xC0000034' while processing the file '_filelst.cfg' on the volume
'HarddiskVolume1'. It has stopped monitoring the volume.
(the file _filelst.cfg is located in C:\System Volume
Information\_restore)
&
Product: Windows Operating System ID: 1 Source: sr Version: 5.2 Symbolic
Name: EVMSG_DISABLEDVOLUME Message: The System Restore filter encountered the
unexpected error '%2' while processing the file '%3' on the volume '%4'. It
has stopped monitoring the volume.
For both, the MS Help & Support Center said to manually create a restore
point. I followed instructions, no restore point (SR is not able to create a
restore point. Please restart your computer and run SR again). I restarted
and retried. Nothing. There are restore points on the computer, SR is and
always has been enabled.
What is going on? What are the #'s with the %'s?
